Pelican to Take Part in Florida Open House April 10-11
Pelican Real Estate will be offering clients the opportunity to reach dozens of prospective buyers in a single weekend as part of the Florida Open House Weekend sponsored by the 115,000-plus member Florida Realtors.  On Saturday and Sunday, April 10-11, Pelican will conduct open houses at an estimated 100 homes in Northwest Florida. Blue balloons, featuring the Realtor “R” in white, will denote those homes that are part of the statewide open house campaign.  The Florida Open House Weekend comes just before the April 30, 2010, deadline for the federal homebuyer tax credit. Homes need to be under contract by April 30, 2010, and closed by June 30, 2010, to take advantage of up to $8,000 in tax credits.

By Amy White
Your home is starting to show its age. The shingles are curling, the kitchen floor is sagging, and the basement walls are leaking. So you grab your tool belt and hammer and set out to fix the problems, do-it-yourself style. You’ll save thousands of dollars on the cost of hiring a contractor. Best of all, you’ll feel the pride and the satisfaction that come from doing a job yourself. Until you fall off the roof, that is. Or you electrocute yourself. Or the living room ceiling buries you alive... Read More

Staging Your Home to Sell
By Sue Meadow
Staging a home for sale can work wonders to entice interest from buyers. Unlike more traditional interior decorating geared towards a homeowner’s tastes, the objective of staging is to appeal to home buyers. It works!

In new construction, model homes are staged with new furnishings, curtains and low-key colors. The result clearly shows each room’s purpose while emphasizing cleanliness, newness, warmth and space. To attract the most interest from prospective buyers... Read More
Attention Real Estate Investors: Anti-Flipping Rule Suspended
By Evelyn Fielding
Real estate investors and house flippers all over the United States are celebrating: HUD has suspended its anti-flipping 90-day seasoning rule for a year. This means you can buy a HUD-owned home and flip it immediately to an FHA insured buyer―no need to hang on to the property (and a mortgage) for three full months, or turn FHA-insured buyers away...
