Local Real Estate Sales Numbers Up
 Home sales numbers are up for Northwest Florida compared to this time last year according to The Emerald Coast Association of Realtors. Detached Single Family Home sales rose from 1773 homes sold January through June 2009 to 1922 homes sold in 2010 during the same time period. The average home sales price has also increased from $270,912 for the first half of 2009 to $286,611 in 2010. Condo unit sales have followed the upward trend comparing 505 units sold January to June 2009 to 622 units sold in the first half of 2010. |
Pre-Approval Can Help You
Get the House You Want

 Before you even go looking at houses, find a good lender and apply for a loan pre-approval. The lender will go through all the paperwork, look up your credit record, verify your income and so on. Of course, they can't actually approve a loan for a specific house, but going through the pre-approval process has a number of benefits for you.
1. It will tell you your price range.
The lender will determine the total mortgage amount they can approve for you. Then, using current interest rates and local property taxes and insurance rates, plus the amount of money you have saved up for a down payment, they will figure out how much house you can afford.

 In summer, the grass starts growing like crazy. This means you start mowing like crazy. Could you use a little help? Here are some tips for making mowing easier and keeping your grass looking great all summer long.
Be sure your mower blades are sharp.
Dull blades tear the grass, making it more prone to disease. Sharpen your blades several times during the summer.
Raise the mowing height to three inches.
Taller grass looks lush, shades its own roots from the hot summer sun, and saves on water. Grass that's cut too short is stressed and dries out faster.
Before mowing, pick up branches and stones.

Homebuyer Tax Credit Extended
 President Obama signed the Homebuyers Assistance and Improvement Act of 2010 (H.R. 5623) in to law on July 2, 2010. Homebuyers that were under contract to purchase a home on or before April 30 now have until September 30 to close on the transaction and qualify for the Homebuyer Tax Credit. This three month extension to complete the home purchase will, according to the National Association of Realtors (NAR), allow approximately 180,000 eligible home buyers to receive the tax credit. |
